Greg founded O3b Networks and served as CEO until November 2009.
Since successfully launching, growing and selling a semiconductor cooling company, Greg has focused on bridging the digital divide, pioneering the first commercial 3G mobile and fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) networks in Africa.
Greg’s extensive emerging market experience helped him to identify the crucial role that low-latency gigabit backhaul can play in developing economies. Previously, the headends of 3G, WiMAX, FTTH and other last-mile technologies across emerging markets have remained thousands of miles away from the global telecommunications network. Greg founded O3b Networks to bridge these networks, combining the speed of fiber with the reach of satellite.
Greg is a frequent speaker on the topics of rural communications and the digital divide. His experience in this area includes an address to the US House Subcommittee on Telecommunications, in which he advised on the need for low-latency, high-speed communications to promote economic and social equality worldwide.
