Baker has overall responsibility for O3b’s finance function and is leading the company’s ongoing capital raising process.
Prior to joining O3b, Baker spent 15 years as an investment banker in New York and London, primarily with Merrill Lynch.
Most recently, Baker was based in London as part of Merrill Lynch’s telecoms and media practice, where he held overall responsibility for Merrill Lynch’s EMEA Cable and Towers platforms and managed the firm’s relationships with several large European Telecoms companies. In this capacity, Baker advised clients on numerous high-profile mergers & acquisitions, initial public offerings and debt financings, including the €2.6 billion sale of Auna to Ono; the €1 billion IPO of Telenet; the €1 billion sale of Get; and the €5 billion acquisition of TeleDiffusion de France (TDF) by Texas Pacific Group, among others.
Prior to this, Baker was an M&A specialist in London and New York working with companies and private equity firms on transactions spanning a wide range of industries.
Baker holds a BA in English literature and mathematics from Vanderbilt University in the US.
